Sung in the Old Regular Baptist lined-out style, Ron Short wrote Wings to Fly for the Roadside Theater's production of New Ground Revival. The musical, written by Short, was a collaboration with the Mullins Family Singers of Dickenson County, Virginia, who are Ron's cousins. Ron Short was raised "South
of the Mountain" in Dickenson County. He now lives in Big
Stone Gap, Virginia and is a performer, playwright, and composer
for Roadside Theater. Roadside
Theater is a Ron performs in all of Roadside's repertoire. He has just finished writing a script and composing music for Promise of a Love Song, Roadside's new, bilingual collaboration with the African American theater Junebug Productions from New Orleans, and the Puerto Rican ensemble Teatro Pregones from the South Bronx.
